A Manchester Tale£35.00
This stunning piece depicts life in the City of Manchester in the years surrounding the Second World War and the effect these years had on the citizens of Manchester. It’s a striking work which overflows with emotion and atmosphere. Winner of ‘Best New Work’ at Spennymore Brass Band Contest in 2000, and featured on the Sellers Band CD, Celtic Connections.

The piece was commissioned by (and dedicated to) The Foden’s Band, and selected as the set work at the 2014 Scottish Open Brass Band Championships, offering an exciting addition to the contesting repertoire. A challenging piece for the players, but one which reaps huge rewards through its rich scoring and imaginative development. A work of three movements, Cantata presents a new dynamic level of its composer’s musical mastery.

A wonderful, original composition by Josiah Walters with lots of innovation, variety of styles and tempo, and extremely listenable. An inspiring piece for a concert feature or own choice entertainment programme. Premiered in 2011 by The National Youth Brass Band of Scotland (at which time Josiah was a playing member).

Inspired by Viking mythology, where it is said that following a battle the bravest souls of the slain would be divided between two Gods, Odin and Freyja. Freyja was the Goddess of Love and War and before going into battle many Viking warriors would pray that they would die bravely so that Freyja would take their soul to join her personal army made up of the souls of the bravest of men.
A striking antiphonal arrangement of this well known work.

Elaine Agnew’s imagination and the fascinating story from which she took inspiration in crafting this composition brings bursts of life and a wide spectrum of colourful sounds through here creativity.
